We are the Hernandez Institute

A passionate team dedicated to preserving Philippine history, advancing library advocacy, and shaping future leaders through historical research and outreach initiatives to underserved communities across the Philippines.

Our library is now open to researchers by appointment only. We also hope to offer archive preservation and digitization as a service to retired government officials and the families of persons of historical significance to the Philippines, with the end goal of preserving, recording, and writing publications on Philippine history and world history through the Philippine lens – saving the knowledge and experiences of our ancestors for future generations of Filipinos.

This is the continuation of a family legacy, through Ms. MCCC Hernandez and the team.

Our Mission & Values

The Hernandez Institute is committed to fostering education, research, and community engagement rooted in Philippine history and memory.

We believe in inclusive access to knowledge, rigorous scholarship, and empowering communities through education and advocacy. Our mission is to bridge the past and present, inspire future leaders, and create a culture of lifelong learning, continuing the legacy and standard set by the late Romeo T. Hernandez.

The Hernandez Institute – contributing to Philippine memory.

Our Organizational Structure

We aim to have four (4) offices within the Hernandez Institute:

Each office has a different role.

The Romeo T Hernandez National Security Archive is focused on the conservation, preservation, & digitization of Philippine history archives – for researchers and publications.

The Hernandez Library Collection maintains the RTH and RCH collections for research use in our office in Legaspi Village, Makati City.

The Hernandez Institute Community Outreach arm conducts literacy outreach activities and support to schools, libraries, communities, and scholars across the Philippines.

The Hernandez Institute Press is still under development, but we hope to offer original publications and research soon.
